Aid Through Trade

The prettiest glass beads I have ever seen, this jewelry line is not only giving us major heart-eye arm candy but is also lifting women up through opportunity. What more could we ask from our bracelets and necklaces?

Reasons to Love Aid Through Trade

Fair Trade Jobs Supporting Women: Each piece of jewelry is handmade with love by artisans in Nepal. All 200+ artisan women are provided a fair wage and benefits in a safe and healthy work environment. Click to meet some of the artisans!

Everyday Jewelry: About a month ago, I was sent a few pieces from Aid Through Trade, and I’ve worn at least one piece almost every day. I like that you can dress them up or down, and they easily fit into any style. Also, some of you may be able to relate to me when it comes to bracelets not staying on well throughout the day. The Roll-On® Bracelets are made for all different wrists!

Color & Design: It took me a while to figure out my favorites! There are so many beautiful different colors and patterns to choose from. All of the Roll-On® Bracelets are made with the highest-quality glass beads and are guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Cool Fact: Aid Through Trade is one of the founding members of the Fair Trade Federation, which was started in 1993 by a former Peace Corps volunteer.

The Sustainable Hemp Undies that are Protecting Your Private Parts Naturally

WAMA Underwear

Do you remember the hemp underwear on my blog last year? The hipster undies I wore throughout my pregnancy now have a sister bikini!

This brand is for both men and women, so everyone keep reading ;)

sustainablehempunderwear

Reasons to Love WAMA Underwear

The Many Benefits of Hemp: Besides the actual plant using less water, space & pesticides, there are many natural health benefits of hemp, too. Hemp is anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, and has anti-odor properties. Plus - did you know it requires HALF the amount of water used to grow cotton?! It makes sense for us to use this fiber more often.

Comfortable and Wears Well with Time: Because of hemp’s moisture-wicking properties, these undies are breathable and comfortable. Hemp is also resistant to mold and UV light and retains color better than cotton. I’ve washed my hipster pair repeatedly, and they are a great pair of underwear!!!

The Packs: You can now purchase several pairs of WAMA underwear at once and save money while doing so! Choose from 3, 6, or 10 in either the hemp bikini or hipster styles. Men can do the same in boxer briefs and trunks.

Bikini Style 10 Pack: Never feel rushed to do laundry again when you get yourself a pack of ten WAMA bikinis. They are just as soft and comfy as the hipsters, but I’m lovin’ this fit!! Plus, they come with a pouch bag to keep them all together.

You can find the entire collection of WAMA Underwear online here. Remember to shop their packs to save money!

Charmed by a Cause

Since my Valentine’s Day post featuring this ethical jewelry brand, I’ve been wearing the Multi Heart Band Ring almost daily. It looks lovely on its own, but it’s also been great for stacking with my other silver pieces! As the name says, these pieces indeed are charming, and I’m always happy to add another to my collection <3

Reasons to Love Charmed by a Cause & Their Cause Partners

As you may remember from last month’s post, Charmed by a Cause pieces are ethically made in NYC from 100% recycled 14kt gold, sterling silver, ethically sourced natural stones & reclaimed or lab-grown diamonds. Their prices are pretty affordable since they sell direct-to-consumer and can avoid those markup fees. Plus, when you shop their jewelry, each piece will show precisely how much money is given to your Cause Partner of choice.

With each purchase, 20% of sales go to one of these partners:

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention: A voluntary health organization giving those affected by

suicide a nationwide community to take action against this leading cause of death.

Covenant House: A haven sheltering and caring for homeless and trafficked youth in 31 cities across six countries.

Woodstock Farm Sanctuary: An organization rescuing farmed animals and giving them care & sanctuary, as well as advocating for animal rights.

What I’m Wearing

Love Key Pendant: “Love Opens All Doors.” This is a gentle reminder always to keep an open heart, which is something I need a lot these days! I’ve been struggling to find a balance between my new role as mama and entrepreneur, which has distracted me from the rest of the world. Not feeling as if I am allowed to be upset {because I do have a good life} has blocked me up. I think an open heart enables you to feel everything - even the sadness - to grow because we all have struggles, no matter the circumstances. It’s also about loving yourself and giving the best of your love to others. I genuinely enjoy this necklace & all that it represents for me. You can find it in Recycled Sterling Silver, 14K Yellow, or White Gold.

Yala

I have a nice little collection from Yala these days! You may remember seeing them on the blog last March - that Cybill Fleece Wrap is exceptionally comfortable, and the organic cotton pieces have been convenient in my new role as Mama.

Reasons to Love Yala

Everyday basics: Yala will most likely have any type of basic you need—from leggings to staple dresses. Plus, most designs come in several colors, and they even throw in a few prints here and there.

Comfortable for busy women: I know most of you reading this have busy, hectic schedules. You probably don’t have enough time to focus on your wardrobe. Most of us want to be comfy while looking put together. I think Yala does a fantastic job merging the two!

Great fabrics: I have loved how my Yala pieces have held up wear after wear, wash after wash. Most of my pieces are of organic cotton or recycled poly, and I’ve been very impressed with how well they sustain and how comfortable they continue to be.

What I’m Wearing

Havana Dress: I got this dress after Elliott was born last spring, but I haven’t gotten a good photo yet. We went to Big Talbot Island this past week, and it was the perfect backdrop for this beauty. The Havana is made from 100% organic cotton and comes in several colors {black - pictured here, navy, coral, and blush}. Like all Yala pieces, it is made in the USA!

Supporting Filipino Craftsmanship through Vibrant, Ethical Handbags & Jewelry

Soli & Sun

As a Florida gal, I was naturally drawn to Soli & Sun’s aesthetic. From the palm trees to the bold colors, this line is begging to be taken out under the sun. I feel like ethical fashion is known to have a few minimalistic color schemes, and everything is sort of subdued and neutral. I think this is great for building your everyday wardrobe, but adding a piece from Soli & Sun can make your outfit shine!

Reasons to Love Soli & Sun

Sustainable Craftsmanship: Designer Clare Hynes has partnered with artisans in The Philippines to bring you their debut collection. After traveling all over the world and working with GKonomics in Palanog, Tacloban, Clare was able to connect with female artisans to help produce her line.

Vibrant Designs: There is just something really fun & positive behind this collection that quickly brings us in. As I mentioned before, color is something you don’t see much in an ethical fashion. There are many more neutral color palettes, but it’s so much fun to have something pop when you work with accessories!

Handwoven Fabric: As you probably know, I love textiles, and handwoven ones are the most special. Soli & Sun uses an indigenous fabric called T’nalak, which the T’boli people make of lake Sebu, Mindanao, and Inabel on large antique wooden looms via a process called ‘Abel’. The women creating the T’nalak fabric have been passing this tradition down from generation to generation, and it continues to be a sustainable source of income for them. I’ve included a photo below to see part of the process. It is amazing!

What I’m Wearing

The Meghan Clutch Bag: This might be the most unique & versatile handbag I own! The Meghan Clutch can be worn two ways - one with a long cross-body, gold-braided strap handcrafted in Mindanao by a husband and wife team - and another with a small handle made with wooden beads from Cebu, Philippines. The handbag is made from T’nalak fabric and a large brass cube clasp {which I think is such a fresh, new look - how many of your purses clasp like this?!}.
