Fair Trade Jewelry for Springtime
by Aid Through Trade
This spring has been difficult for me. I should have been checking into my hotel room for my wedding weekend and preparing for my bachelorette party. However, the health and safety of our families is much more important. Our wedding has been postponed until mid-August, but we remain hopeful. During this time, I have been finding comfort in my work and browsing the latest products from my favorite brands. It's more important than ever to support small and sustainable fashion brands that are working hard to make a positive impact on the industry. Many of these brands have been around for years and have contributed so much to the world of fashion. I hope that we can continue to support them during these uncertain times.
I’m always excited to see what new colors Aid Through Trade will have each season. They do an amazing job at mixing colors and patterns together, and they are so easy to style with your closet!
Just a quick recap on this lovely brand:
Damian Jones, the founder, was teaching in the late 1980s as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nepal when he was inspired by the glass beads and artisans of the Kathmandu Valley. During his travels throughout Nepal, he noticed one consistent thing—women’s lives changed dramatically when they had an income. He wanted to improve their lives by bringing their art to the States, so in 1993, Aid Through Trade was born.
Each piece of jewelry is handmade with love by artisans in Nepal. All 200+ artisan women are provided a fair wage and benefits in a safe and healthy work environment. Aid Through Trade is also one of the founding members of the Fair Trade Federation.
I’ve decided to showcase some of my favorite new Aid Through Trade pieces in a couple of outfit posts. They have two sets of Roll-On® Bracelets for Spring that really stood out to me - the Provence and Santorini. I’ve always wanted to visit Greece but have yet to do so. The South of France is beautiful, and all the lavender fields are on my bucket list. I went on a month-long road trip with my parents through France about three years ago, but the lavender was not in bloom then. We saw a little, but not as many as I had hoped. Anyway, I had to snag a pair of the Provence Roll-On® Bracelets to take me back to that wonderful trip. I also love the bright spring colors for their necklaces. In the outfit photos, I’m pictured wearing the Hema Knot in Turquoise, the Uptown Girl in Periwinkle, and the Wanderer Tassel in Cream Brass.
