It’s sweater weather yet again so this list needed a little update with all the new sustainable sweaters for Fall 2021 - and it was difficult for me to pick my favorites!
p.s. I added one at the bottom for the guys!
What Makes a Sweater Sustainable?
A sustainable sweater usually consists of natural fibers that are responsibly sourced, ethically-made, and made to last you many years. We even have a sweater made from recycled cashmere! At times, we will add fibers which are synthetic if made from recycled materials because it does help with durability. However, nothing keeps you warm and cozy like natural fibers do - and it’s easier for them to decompose back into the environment when it’s no longer wearable.
What Eco-Friendly Materials should you look for?
Our go-tos for sweater fabrics are organic cotton, cashmere, alpaca, and wool. If using animal fibers, we only list brands who use responsible sourcing and hold high standards of ethical treatment of the animals. Like I mentioned above, we also include recycled synthetics like polyesters.
